How Do You Watch Online Video?
The majority of video content I watch is from online video sources. Sure, the magic of a DVR and cable TV allows me to time-shift documentaries and episodes of shows like “Flash Forward”, but everything else I absorb online.
At the current time I’m living in Australia and I don’t have the ability to use services like Hulu to keep up with current episodes of television series. Yes, we get to see many American television shows in Australia, but they’re often not broadcast here until months after they were seen in the USA. This means I can’t discuss said shows with my friends in the USA.
I’m curious about how you watch video on the web. Do you subscribe to feeds in iTunes and download HD video podcasts, watch shows on Viddler (and other streaming platforms), or stick to Hulu?
Ultimately, I’d like to know whether you watch said content full screen or in the little box that’s provided by the site you view the content on. Personally, I view full screen when watching longform (e.g., 10+ mins) content. Though, sometimes the content is so engaging that I forget to toggle in to full screen mode.
Rachel likes to view videos at their native size (if downloaded) because when blown up to full screen the quality is degraded.
Most video sharing websites (like Viddler, Vimeo, YouTube, etc) now offer videos in high definition. Even if the video isn’t high-quality, I don’t mind making it full screen and sitting farther away from the computer screen.
So. At what quality and size do you view videos online?
